Description
Oreo Ice Cream combines your favorite chocolate-cookie with creamy vanilla icecream to-make a tasty creamy dessert.
Instructions
- In saucepan, over medium heat, combine salt, milk, & half sugar. Stir mixture continuously as you bring it just to a simmer. Remove from heat.
- In small bowl, whisk together sugar & egg-yolks & just until mixed.
- To temper eggs, slowly add 1/2cup of milk mixture in a drizzle into egg-mixture. Do this slowly so not to cook the eggs.
- Pour entire egg-mixture back into saucepan with milk-mixture. Heat over medium-heat till thickened, about 3-5 mins. Don't boil mixture.
- Remove pot from heat. Pour mixture into chilled bowl & refrigerate about two hours till cold. To avoid putting hot mixture in refrigerator, you can chill bowl over another bowl, filled with ice for 10 - 15 mins to cool down first.
- After mixture has completely cooled, stir the vanilla & cream. Pour mixture in your ice-cream maker, then freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. After about 15 mins, add chopped cookies (reserving a handful for garnish) so they can be blended into the ice-cream. Churn for another 5 mins or till ice-cream is your desired consistency.
- Transfer ice-cream to container to store in freezer.
NOTES
- You can store ice-cream for upto a month in freezer.
- Use any type of Oreos biscuits you like in this recipe.
